It’s New Year’s Eve, which means SyFy’s annual Twilight Zone marathon is back in session!
Well, not quite. It officially starts on TV at 5AM, but I’m getting started on my own version of a Twilight Zone marathon right now!
Yep, that’s right! The series on my blog where I write a Twilight Zone-inspired story every hour until midnight in the new year is back and better than ever! And while last year I did some pre-marathon planning to get a head start, this year I may be racing against the clock, so we’ll have to see how this turns out…
(I may have to sprinkle in a few reruns.)

If you’re new to the blog, The Twilight Zone is one of my favorite series of all time, despite its original run premiering over thirty years before I was born. It’s quirky, it’s creepy, it’s political, and some episodes are downright scary. It’s everything that inspires me as a writer, and on New Year’s Eve 2021, after two years of living in a real-life Twilight Zone, I decided to let my inner Rod Serling out and do my own Twilight Zone New Year’s marathon. Some of the stories served as sequels or continuations. Some were reimaginings, and others were all new stories with a nod to the classic episodes that inspired them.
If you haven’t guessed, my dream job would be to write for a new Twilight Zone series. CBS has a pattern of bringing it back every twenty years: 1960s (original series run), 1980s (first revival series), 2000s (second revival series), and 2020s (third revival series). So, CBS, I hope to hear from you in 2040! I should have plenty of writing samples by then.
In the meantime, Season 2 of my Lost in the Twilight Zone Marathon shall commence in T-minus one hour! If you want to catch up on last year’s marathon while you wait, check out the carousel below. My personal favorite is Episode 12: Nicklaus.
Catch Up on Last Year’s Marathon
All caught up? Then I’ll see you in an hour for Season 2 Episode 1. If you’re curious about which original Twilight Zone episode it’s based on, here’s a hint: it will be a nightmare! 😉
