Morning Inspiration: Writing Prompt No. 17

This is your morning inspiration! Let your mind be inspired by today’s prompt and awaken your will to write. It doesn’t have to be a complete story. It doesn’t even have to be a complete thought. The challenge is simply to get those creative juices flowing and discover the talented writer within, who’s been there all along.

This Morning’s Prompt

Coffee shop

My Inspired Story

I saw him before he even entered the coffee shop, smiled to myself when I heard his order—chai latte, same as mine.

I pretended not to notice when he sat across from me and asked what I was reading. Only when he touched my hand did I look up.

“Hello, wife.”

Now the story truly begins.

Time for Yours

Now it’s your turn! Use your inspiration from either the word or photo prompt (or both) and write whatever comes to mind! You can even continue my story if it inspires you! Drop it in the comments below or post on your own blog and link it back here. And most importantly, have fun!

  1. Here’s mine.

    Coffee Shop

“Is there an exit to this place?” I whispered to a woman at the front counter, as I kept my eye on the front door.

“Huh?” She was LOUD. “What do we look like, a big box store?

    Someone laughed.

“The entrance is the exit,” the bored-looking barista continued. “Look, do you wanna order something or not?”

“No!” I saw the man dart past the plate-glass windows, on his way to the front doors of the coffee shop. I tucked my head down, afraid he’d seen me.

I ran past a few other customers, headed for a wall in the back and stood there, praying.
