I blast off at the touch of his lips against mine, and wake up just as quickly, forgetting that none of it is real.
With a sigh, I reach for the pill bottle on the edge of my nightstand. It feels light in my hand. Empty.
How will I justify a refill on a 90-day prescription after just two weeks? I must go back to sleep.

Monday’s One-Minute Fiction challenges you to write a story in one minute, no more, no less, based on the prompt provided. Monday’s prompt blasted you off into a new year, or in the case of this story, a sweet dream! 😉
Good one Nortina, great way to say how ‘high she us’. Unless this is the first time she ‘lost’ or had her medication’stolen’ something like that, getting a refill would be difficult and who’s to say her drug plan from the insurance company would cover that many months of her prescription again. Made me think. Good one. Hope you enjoyed the holidays!

There’s definitely an addiction here. To the dreams, the pills, just wanting to sleep… Who can say with this unreliable narrator? It’s that question that draws you in, right? 😉
Thanks for reading Mandi! I know I’m late, but my holidays were good. I hope yours were. 🙂
